Adaptation Plans

* Climate Action Plan

Some state governments have begun to develop adaptation plans, most of which are in the early stages. Six states – Arizona, Colorado, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Utah and Vermont – included adaptation within the scope of their climate action plans addressing greenhouse gas mitigation.  The states' climate action plans generally recommend that state adaptation plans be created for critical impact areas.  A few other states have recognized the need for separate and comprehensive adaptation efforts to parallel their mitigation activities; these states include Alaska, California, Maryland, Oregon, Florida and Washington.
